I had a 1:1 with Andy using Archeotype and to be honest I found it personally quite a challenging activity. It is a psychologically dynamic exercise and the choices you make are initially based on your ‘unconscious’ – this was quite unusual in the work setting for me and was very powerful.
I got loads from the experience – it showed me that my creative side wasn’t being utilised enough and that I was perhaps not engaging all of my potential (perhaps a symptom of being in the same role for 10 years!). I am quite self-aware and it confirmed a lot about my natural style and strengths but what was really interesting and useful for me to realise was that I’d been trying to ignore some real frustrations about the day to day role I was doing rather than the strategic work that I enjoy. I’d got myself in a bit of a “rut” and have used the insights gained from Archeotype to broaden my responsibilities.
Since undertaking Archeotype, I have made some career changes and set up an HR consultancy business. As well as my core full time role as HR Director, I assist another Company, in my personal time, with their HR requirements.
I would use Archeotype to support cultural change as well as helping people to play to their strengths and understand their motivations. It would also be a useful tool for 1:1 coaching/ counselling and for team development activities.
I would recommend it to other HRDs/business leaders to support business growth/development.
